Tips For Making Good Pancakes

You might be under the impression that there is nothing more to making good pancakes than picking up some pancake mix, adding water, turning on the stove, and frying up the pancakes – and while you can certainly make pancakes in this manner, it takes a little bit of extra effort to make pancakes that are truly delicious! By exerting some extra time and effort, it will be easy for you to make a pancake breakfast that is more than just something to fill you up – it will be something to treat you right, and to make you feel satisfied as you head into the rest of your day!

Starting from scratch will be one of the first steps if you are hoping to make pancakes that are truly delicious; when you use a pancake mix, you will not be getting the full amount of flavor (or even the full amount of health!) you will get from making your pancakes from scratch – and making your pancakes from scratch really does not take all that much more in the way of effort or time.

If you are aiming to make truly delicious pancakes, another thing you will want to do is add some extra ingredients – ingredients such as chocolate chips, blueberries, or strawberries; once you have poured the batter into the pan, simply set these extra ingredients in the pancakes, and continue to cook as normal!

And lastly, the heat you decide to cook your pancakes on will make a big difference in how they turn out; you will want to cook your pancakes on a low enough heat that the inside gets cooked (instead of still being mostly batter!), while the outside gets slightly crispy, as this will give your pancakes the fullest flavor possible.

When you follow these tips, you should have no problem making pancakes that are delicious and rewarding – and if you want to take things one step further, you can pick up a pancake cookbook (The Pancake Handbook is an excellent, inexpensive option!), and this will give you plenty of ideas and directions for making truly tremendous pancakes!

Make Sure You Get Your Protein

One of the most important things you can put into your body is protein, even though many people fail to make sure they are getting enough of it. For some of us, we don’t get enough of it because we choose not to eat meat. Others of us do not take the time to consider what we are eating, and this is why we do not get enough protein. And of course, some people really just plain forget to care! Whatever the case, it is important for each individual to realize the value of protein for their body. Here are some great sources for protein.

The absolute best place you can get protein from is meat. While red meat gives you protein, it also gives you fat and other stuff you probably do not want in your body. Instead of red meat, think about adding more chicken and fish to your diet. Fish is one of the best things you can put into your body!

Whether you eat meat or not, nuts are another excellent source of protein. Nuts, however, should not be eaten in large doses, as nuts are also high in cholesterol.

But there are also plenty of non-traditional sources of protein. If you want the benefits of protein along with the goodness of fruit, consider adding protein powder to a fruit smoothie. These can be made at home or purchased at such places as Smoothie King and Jamba Juice. There is also the option of protein bars. Some people find that protein bars are not as tasty as protein smoothies, but they are easy to take with you and eat on the go. Just grab one from your pantry, bring it with you, and eat it wherever you are!

It does not matter if your protein is coming from meats and eggs or from nuts and protein bars, as long as you are getting your protein. The recommended amount of protein is 50 grams a day, but remember that this is just the suggested minimum. If you realize that you are not getting enough protein, figure out where you can make changes. Your body will thank you down the road!

Suggestions for Making Your Trip More Manageable with Children

Boredom can make a long trip intolerable for both parent and child alike. There are electronic options at your finger tips such as DVD players and hand held video games, but these can even get old quickly for kids. There are a number of things that you can stock your car with to make your trip considerably more comfortable for everyone involved.

One game that is a great option for traveling is Rubberneckers: Everyone&rsquo. This card game is based on observing things around you as you travel. The first player to reach 100 points wins. Adults and children of school age can really enjoy this time passing game.

Miles Of Smiles: 101 Great Car Games and Activities is another great activity book for the car. Hard to entertain teenagers may even enjoy some of these games and activities.

Grade school children can benefit greatly from activities in the car. Almost all children love stickers so finding an ultimate sticker book is a great way to pass the time.  DK publishing puts out a great number of these books. Desks To Go is a great thing to add to your car so that your child has a hard surface to work on.

Some people don’t like the risk of having crayons and markers in their car.  If you fall into this category you could look into a Felt Storyboard instead. Felt storyboards are great because there is no risk to your vehicles upholstery and no real risk of mess. Since felt can be easily found at most craft stores you can make your own boards or replace lost shapes and characters.

This is by far not an all inclusive list.  There are so many different options you can try. These are just a few suggestions of entertainment options for your children until you get to your destination. One of the best ways to deal with boredom in the car is to keep their minds active.

How to Attract Wild Birds

It is always enjoyable to see wild birds taking up residence around your place. Nature, with it’s little songbirds that flitter around singing their hearts out, is great for the soul. Simple feeders and houses can really help keep wild birds around your house.

Birdhouses come in many shapes and sizes, and different birds nest in different houses. If you wish to attract songbirds, you should consider a house with a small hole since most songbirds are actually very petite. When you choose a simple house you should purchase a unpainted wooden house.  Try to find a house that has a hinged top so that you can remove abandoned nests. Pine and cedar boxes work very well for birdhouse materials.

By using a combination of plants that you plant around your house and feeders you can attract a wide range of birds to your yard. You can attract humming birds, for example, by providing a combination of humming bird feeders along with planted bee balm and columbine. You may attract enough humming birds that you may need multiple feeders.

You can attract the brightly colored oriole into your yard by providing string-nesting material inside of a suet feeder along with a supply of orange halves. There are also special oriole feeders that are made to hold jellies. You will enjoy both the orioles’ flash along with their song all summer long.

Other wild birds can be attracted to your yard by having simple bird feeders and platforms. Many song birds eat happily from special thistle feeders with tiny holes so that the thistle doesn’t fall out. Platforms can have larger seed put into it such as sunflower. The birds you see with greatly be determined by the foods that you provide.

Not only can watching birds be a relaxing hobby over all, it is also great to wake up in the morning to the songs the birds provide. Try to make your yard a bit more bird friendly this summer and see what birds you can attract.

Keeping your normal to dry skin blemish free

Taking care of normal to dry skin can be a difficult challenge, but don’t stress! Keeping your normal to dry skin clear can seem like a lot of money and work for few results, but not so with this unique combination of products. You need to begin with a morning/shower cleanser. Aveeno Clear Complexion Cleanser is the best exfoliating, softening cleanser that matches your skin type. It is a fresh and easy cream cleanser that exfoliates and treats your skin gently. Using it in the shower in the morning is the best way to give yourslef a clean slate to put your makeup on for the day.  It has only a two percent content of salicylic acid, which is a mild but effective way to keep blemishes away. You should follow the cleanser with its matching Aveeno Clear Complexion Lotion. It comes out of a handy push bottle, like your favorite hand soap would. Just be careful not to use too much because if you do, the lotion will start to get chunky as you try to rub the excess in. The lotion has a low percentage of salicylic acid as well so it keeps fighting potential breakouts all day long. If you have some persistent pimples every now and then, you can use
Neutrogena On the Spot Acne Treatment to treat and clear. It is easy on the skin and doesn’t dry it out. The tube is small but the cream lasts far a long time so you won’t need to buy it again and again. When the day ends and your skin needs an effective, fast cleaning, there are two great options. Oily eye makeup removers leave your eyes feeling gross, so an oil-free alternative is Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. It works on waterproof mascara, all kinds of liner and shadows, and just about anything else you could put on your eyes. To finish off the day, swipe a cotton ball full of thee cool, refreshing SeaBreeze FreshClean Astringent all over your face to remove every trace of dirt, makeup, and oil. You’ll be able to see the results, so continue until you come back with a clean cotton ball. Make you repeat every day and enjoy your new soft, clear skin!

Great Campfire Cooking

When you go camping with your family, one of the best parts of the trip will be the campfire at night – firstly because it gives everyone a congregation point, where they can hang out, relax, and chat, but secondly because the campfire means some seriously good eating at the end of the day! Here are a few food ideas for you to keep in mind if you are planning to take a family camping trip this summer - and if you are not planning to take a camping trip this summer, these ideas just might inspire you to change your mind!

Of course, the s’more is the mainstay of the campfire diet, but while many people simply roast their marshmallows and throw them on a graham cracker with a couple squares of chocolate, you can actually improve your s’more experience a great deal by simply adding one more step: after you have put the s’more together, wrap it in tin foil and set it on the hot coals for about five minutes. When you unwrap the tin foil, you will have some deliciously melted chocolate to go with the marshmallow you already roasted.

Another one of the staples of the campfire diet is the hot dog, but one thing you might consider is switching from hot dogs to bratwursts; when you roast bratwursts over a fire, you will have a tastier alternative to hot dogs that also fills you up more and keeps better on an extended camping trip!

Finally, you need to pick up a guide for campfire cooking if you want to make sure you have truly good food during your camping trip; The Ultimate Campfire Kitchen is an incredible resource, as it has close to six hundred recipes for campfire cooking!

When you do campfire cooking the right way, eating around the campfire will not just be something “memorable” and “fun” - it will also provide you with delicious food!

Tips For Enjoying A Camping Trip Alone

True solitude and silence hardly exist in the lives of most people these days - and when you start to examine this truth, you will even realize that most of those times when you think you are in “silence,” you are not truly silence at all, as the world around you is packed full of distractions that keep you from sinking into any seriously productive thought. And while every person who comes to this realization (and subsequently begins searching for a way to enjoy some true peace and quiet) will have a different approach in mind to finding some “alone time” and silence, one great way to get away and accomplish this is by taking a camping trip all alone.

Of course, there are a lot of considerations for you to keep in mind in order to ensure that your trip is successful when you are camping alone, and the most important of these considerations deals with making sure you are safe; if you are going camping alone, make sure someone knows where you are going, and make sure you are going to an area that has well-marked trails to prevent you from getting lost!

Another thing that will be important is that you pack enough items for “just in case” - which means enough food to hold you over should something happen, and enough water to help you along for several days longer than you are planning to be out there.

And last but not least, planning your trip in such a way that it is conducive to getting some thinking done will also be important – which means that you will want to plan it so that you will not be pressed for time, but will be able to truly sit and think about nothing, enjoying the silence and solitude of being all alone in the great outdoors.

You can, of course, gain solitude and silence through ways besides going camping alone, but there is not much that compares to such an experience, and these tips will help you to make such a trip a success.

Feeling Younger

The older you get, the more you will have a tendency to feel a desire to “still feel young”; not that this is so much an instance of feeling discontent, or of wanting to be in a different stage of your life than the one in which you are currently in, but more so that you will start to realize – as you get older – all the things you took for granted when you were younger! You will naturally feel a regression in the way you feel in certain areas as you get older, but while it is important that you are aware of this, there are also a number of things you can do in order to improve the way you feel even as you advance in age.

Your mind: Although the regression of your mind will be less immediately evident than the regression of your body, you will still want to make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your mind strong and “young” – and the best thing you can do to accomplish this is for you to make sure you are keeping your mind engaged in fun and challenging activities on a regular basis, such as brain games and brain teasers.

Your muscles: You will have a tendency to spend more and more time sitting around on your bottom as you get older; while it is nice to relax at times, it is also nice for your muscles to remain in total working order, so make sure you are still moving around and remaining active, even as you have an excuse to simply sit around!

Your joints: Keeping your joints young will take a lot of the same things as keeping your muscles young – but you will also want to do what you can to strengthen your joints, and when it comes to strengthening your joints, the best thing for you to do is regularly walk or swim.

Even though it will not be possible for you to prevent yourself from aging, you can still take these steps to help your mind and body to continue feeling young, even as you age!

Save Money Each Month by Eliminating the Cable Bill

With the economy in the shape it is today many families are looking for ways to cut costs. One of the easiest ways to do this is to eliminate expenses that aren’t essential. The biggest nonessential expense that most people still have is their cable bill. The ability to watch hundreds of different TV channels is really nice, but it is a major investment each month. These bills can run upwards of a hundred dollars a month and when eliminated can really boost a budget into the black.

Many fear that their HDTV will be essentially useless if they cut their cable bill, so they don’t. They still want to enjoy the TV that they spent a good amount of money on. If cable is retained the thought that HD channels will be lost is a common misconception that people have. In fact, the crispest HD channels will actually be sent to your TV through an antenna. Uncompressed signals that are sent over the air waves are much better to view than the compressed ones sent through cable wire.

This is why RCA has developed an amplified digital indoor TV antenna. This antenna works great with HDTVs, allowing them to receive a pure HD signal for all basic channels. A revolutionary new technology that allows for a signal to be received at 360 degrees is employed by this antenna. Traditional antennas only allow the signal to be received when positioned in specific ways. This can end up being a huge hassle on a daily basis.

The antenna is also built flat, giving it a slim profile and flexibility in positioning. It can fit into small spaces if needed since it is so efficient at saving space. HD signals that leave something to be desired are not worth the money. HD signals that are offered over the air waves are the best signals you can give your TV. The best option many times is the oldest technology!
